In case you don’t want any fingerprints on your iPad screen. The hand icon disables the inking of your Apple Pencil to scroll through your pages. But this one stuck with us for most of this year, it’s currently not plaguing this particular iPad, but, we’ve experienced it often enough to remember it during this review. We normally don’t mention bugs because they are mostly fleeting. However, there are times when the ink is a bit wobbly. Notability can replicate how your handwriting looks on paper. Palm rejection is perfect and there is no lag with the Apple Pencil. The handwriting experience in Notability is excellent. To Remove a tool from your favourites toolbar, tap on it twice to bring up the option. Even after you’ve saved them, you can still adjust your favourites’ preferences. You can tuck it away when you don’t need it and bring it back up just as easily. The favourites toolbar is mobile and can be on any side of your screen. You can save your favourite pens, highlighters, erasers and lasso tools for easier access. The rigid lasso tool, however, lets you do one of the two (at a time). You can rotate and resize your notes simultaneously using the two-finger gesture when using the freehand lasso tool.
You can Duplicate, Cut, Copy, Group, Save or Delete your selection. Grouping would be more useful if we could group our handwritten notes with images and text boxes. Style changes the type of ink (but the fountain pen option is missing), its colour, and pen thickness. You can move your selection around the page, even across different pages. We should be able to select all the items on our pages. It only picks up handwritten sections of your notes (not photos or text), which makes it difficult to rearrange the notes on your page. The lasso tool can be freehand or rigid (rectangular) for moving items on the page. Page sizes now range from A7-A3, Letter, Tabloid and Legal. The templates now have 10 line-spacing options and can either be landscape or portrait. Your pages can now have any colour your like. The basic ones ( Plain, Rule, Grid and Dot) now come with the basic 15 paper colours as well as all the colours on your pen colour palette. Notability now has a lot of paper templates. You can take a bit more time to create a new notebook in the app.
It makes it easy to quickly start taking notes in the app. Your new notebook’s page template is one you’ve set in the app’s Document settings.
